THE STORY

Incredibly talented man, forbidden love and dreams far ahead of his time. Fate took his beloved from him, and the world he did not understand severely punished him. Originally from Germany, the brilliant linguist Georg Sauerwein (1831-1904) was an intellectual far ahead of his time; his life philosophy was based on his belief in the idea of human rights, in the positive role of cultural diversity and opposition to the then universal division into nations “better” and “worse”. During his lifetime, romanticism and nationalism played an extremely important role in shaping Europe’s political, social and cultural life. Powerful changes have taken place internationally. Top-down boundaries imposed by powerful monarchs did not take into account the fate and role of national minorities and natural geographical barriers.
